Cancer Research in Primary Care SIG

The first SIG meeting for regarding Cancer Research in Primary Care was held during the 31st annual NAPCRG conference in 2003. The interest in this group has been strong. Approximately 30 people came to the first breakfast meeting.

The purposes of this SIG are manifold:

DURING NAPCRG MEETINGS
1) To allow NAPCRG members who are interested or engaged in cancer research a place to network during the NAPCRG meeting.
2) To be a voice for cancer research presented during the NAPCRG meeting (ie grouping of cancer session by theme etc.).
3) To organize workshops and specials presentations during the NAPCRG meeting with a focus on cancer (ie plenary session speakers etc.)

OUTSIDE THE NAPCRG MEETING
4) To work on common issues such as accessing administrative data bases nationally and internationally.
5) To develop international networks examining cancer in primary care
6) To discuss academic issues such as what type of journals are willing to publish articles that deal with cancer research in primary care; organize sessions where colleagues can discuss and critique each other’s research questions.
7) To develop a website/list server that would facilitate communication among NAPCRG SIG members.
